#13 Academic Trophy Case

We have two new trophy cases in the front lobby at CHS -- this is the first in a two part series (see #14) about those new trophy cases.

How many schools can say that they have an 'Academic Only' trophy case?  I know one for sure: Celina High School!  We have a great number of academic awards to brag about and showcase -- and now we have a place to collect them.  Included in the showcase are a banner signifying our EXCELLENCE from the state of Ohio, plaques displaying the names of the student of the year in various academic departments, a BPA trophy, Student Council Awards, Scholastic Team Awards, and JETS team awards.

If you have not seen the trophy case yet, we invite you to check it out!

A special thanks to the following donors who supported this project:

• Cabinetry by Ebbing (also built the cases)
• Midwest Logistics Systems
• Celina Moose Lodge #1473
• Celina Booster Club
• Celina High Academic Motivational Promoters (CHAMP)
• Celina Insurance Group
• American Legion Celina Post 210
• Grand Lake Health System
• Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Celina High School Chapter
• Pepsi

We are grateful to have so many great people willing to support our effort to showcase our academics...

AWESOME!

#5 Parents

No one has a tougher job than a parent!  Need I say more?  One of the things that makes our school as great as it is is parental involvement.  From encouraging students to do their homework to helping them fill out college applications, parents are the key to success in school.  So on this night of 'Parent-Teacher' conferences, it is appropriate to recognize those parents that get involved.  Thanks to all of you for what you do and please know that we recognize and commend you for your hard work!

Because we couldn't be great without them, CHS Parents are...

AWESOME!

#2 EXCELLENT

We ROCK the books!  Plain and simple!

CHS has been rated EXCELLENT by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) since they started ranking individual schools in 2002.  This rating, the highest a high school can receive, indicates quality performance on state standardized tests by our students and excellent instruction by our staff.  Nothing wrong with patting ourselves on the back a little!  Often times we recognize great achievements by athletic teams… this is like winning a State Championship for our academics!

This year (2010), we are even more excited as the entire Celina City School District has been rated Excellent with Distinction by ODE.  This is the highest rating a district can receive.  This school year, we are the only district in Mercer County to be recognized with this honor.

Quite simply, CHS academics…

AWESOME!
